ABOUT US

Contemporary Handmade Ceramics

In 2015, Leandro Marcelino created Hey Camel Ceramics for the first time. It is a studio aimed at finding new ways of making craft while conserving old traditions.

"Craft is a form of making which generally produces an object that has a function: such as something you can wear, or eat or drink from." Grayson Perry.

We study the clay, shapes and materials in a unique way. Leandro comes from a group of islands called The Canary Islands (Spain), where it is covered by lava, dark soil and Saharan sand. His main joy is to bring nature and craft together to create utensils that shine a light on its utility and the object itself.

We work with raw materials, custom made clays specially made for us from Vietnam. We mainly work with earthenware soils rich in Iron Oxide. Dark clay has long been traditionally used for kitchen and tableware.

Each piece that we make is 100% hand crafted, one by one. Without the use of molds or electric machinery, the old way.

We create individual pieces and custom-made commissions for restaurants and brands. Don't hesitate to contact us for a collab!
